A Decent Alternative Repair

There are a few methods for repairing the Huarache strap. Some are better, and will last longer than others. The video below offers a decent fix by adding an extra piece of leather (Faux or full grain leather fabric) to the inside of the strap and basically just using a strong superglue to hold it firmly in place. The person in the video is mending a strap that only has a crack in so far. Of course, over time that crack will lead to a full break. So if possible it's best to catch it early and attempt a repair, or reinforce the area to try and prevent a full break.

If you already have a full break in the strap, before trying this fix it would be wise to either use a strong superglue, or use the more cleaner and safer Sugru to join it back together. Then go ahead and perform this fix. There are no guarantees as to how long it will last though!

For this operation you will need: Some spare time, Faux / Real Leather Fabric, Superglue capable of sticking to rubber, and a pair of scissors. Leave the glue to dry out completely before testing the trainers out. Worth a try. Good luck. The Faux leather fabric above is available in many different colours, so no matter what colour strap you are trying to fix there is a colour that will match it close enough. And it's only £0.99 to buy.
